The Greatest Light Show on Earth

Aurora Borealis Aurora Borealis Aurora Borealis Aurora Borealis

Spend your days watching and photographing nature at its best. And then sit back and take in the greatest light show on earth: the Aurora Borealis! Northern Lights are a shimmering atmospheric phenomenon that occurs commonly above 60 degrees north latitude. Visitors will be stunned by an endless array of forms created by the auroras, including arches, bands, streamers, clouds and flames.

The Canadian Arctic is a paradise for nature photographers, and a vacation in late August offers an excellent opportunity for capturing the northern lights. During the earlier summer months, although you can see the Aurora Borealis, the strong twilight, or midnight sun, can interfere with the stunning displays. However, in mid to late August, the temperatures are still pleasant, and as the twilight softens, the sky dances, bathed in luminous swirling colours.
