If you're looking for legendary trophy lake trout fishing, look no further than Tukto Lodge. We are the only outfitter on Dubawnt Lake and Mosquito Lake, both world-renowned destinations for unbelievable lake trout. With Dubawnt Lake covering a staggering 1,480 square miles and Mosquito Lake at an impressive 500 square miles, there are hours upon hours of shoreline, islands and reefs to explore. Our remote location amid clear, cold water allows us to offer the best Lake Trout fishing on the planet. It is one of the most prized fish in the North, so our guides know all the best places to find success!
Part of the char family, Lake Trout is a cold-water species and is the largest trout native to North America. It's a beautiful fish with a deeply forked tail, large head and eyes, a grey-blue back, whites spotted sides and a creamy belly. The world record for lake trout was established in 1995 right here in the Northwest Territories by an angler who caught a 72.25-pound monster!
Our catch and release program creates an angler's paradise. Fishing supervisors of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut are diligent in their designations to ensure trophy trout will be available for generations to come. Our lake trout range from 10 to 50 pounds, and visitors to Tukto Lodge catch and release an average of more than 40 lake trout per day. We've had anglers boat more than 125 lake trout in one day between two people! A 61-pound trophy is the largest lake trout taken to date by one of our guests. Will you beat the record?
Our trolled spoons were readily attacked by the hungry lakers, often within sight of our boat. The arctic trout were fearless and relentless. Every item that remotely resembles food is attacked. From the largest trolling spoons to our colourful collection of diminutive spinners, both proved irresistible to the monster trout. I said to my partner, I've never had fishing like this!

In-Fisherman Rates Mosquito and Dubawnt Top Ten in the World

In 2012, Matt Straw, In-Fisherman magazine editor, ranked Mosquito Lake and Dubawnt Lake in the top ten best lake trout waters in the world! Here's what he had to say:
Muskox, ptarmigan, jaegers, open-range grizzlies, wolverines, and tundra. Make no mistake—this is an exotic tour of Arctic life, and lake trout fit right in. These lakes are ice-free for about six weeks, and never warm enough to drive lakers deep. We caught them pitching big plastics on bare hooks into the tumult of cascading rivers and letting them tumble down into the lake, where big lakers waited for a tired, injured or distracted grayling to appear. Whenever my partner, Chuck Nelson, hooked up while trolling, I grabbed a spinning rod equipped with braid and pitched plastics out over depths of 80 feet—getting bit about a third of the time. This is a wild and wonderful area, with fly-outs to rivers that have never been fished.
